Overview

Our experiences shape who we are, how we relate to others, and how we navigate life's challenges. Whether managing competing responsibilities, adjusting to unexpected changes, supporting loved ones, or working through difficult experiences, we all need support at times. Kayla believes everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and accepted without judgment. Her professional and personal experiences have fostered a passion for helping individuals navigate life's challenges, with particular interests in aging, caregiving, grief, and life transitions.

Kayla is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) who has been practicing social work since 2010. She earned her bachelor's degree from Bethel College and her master's degree from Newman University. Her professional background includes foster care and adoption, hospital social work, geriatric inpatient psychiatry, and nursing home settings. These experiences have shaped her interest in supporting adults through aging, caregiving responsibilities, changing family dynamics, grief and loss, and end-of-life concerns. She also welcomes clients navigating anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, and personal or professional transitions.

Kayla's therapeutic approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to each person's unique needs and goals. She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, person-centered therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and supportive therapy to help clients develop coping skills, navigate difficult emotions, and work toward meaningful change. She believes an important part of therapy is normalizing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors by recognizing how our experiences, relationships, and circumstances shape our responses. Kayla strives to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their concerns, gain a deeper understanding of themselves, and build on their existing strengths.

Her passion for supporting individuals and families has also been shaped by her personal experiences. Adopting her son and navigating the experiences associated with his ADHD and autism have deepened her appreciation for the unique needs of individuals and families, the complexities of parenting, and the importance of individualized, compassionate support.

Outside of work, Kayla enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and son on their family farm. She values the connection, patience, and perspective that family life brings and carries that same appreciation for each person's unique journey into her work at ICT Therapyworks. Kayla is committed to helping clients feel supported as they navigate challenges, discover new perspectives, and move toward greater emotional well-being.
